RateAFace History

The Beginning -- The original RateAFace was founded by Will Peirce in 2004, and could be found at Rate-A-Face.com. It was a very simple rating script.

It wasn't long untill the web developer Mark Willis got involved, who began making modifications to the source code of Rate-A-Face.

Early 2005 -- Will Peirce and Mark Willis decided it was time to start over. Create a custom made website built from scratch. The domain name RateAFace.com was purchased whilst Rate-A-Face.com was left to deprecate and finally 'die'.

This is refered to as RateAFace version 1. It was quite poor compared to modern web standards, but got things moving! It wasn't long however untill a better site was needed.

Early 2006 -- In early 2006 work began on RateAFace version 2. Improved hardware, a fresh new design and partially recoded software meant this version was able to take off, and generated tens of thousands of registrations, with a peak of 90,000 page views a day.

2007 -- RateAFace continued to run steadily during 2007, but many hardware problems and lack of investment meant it was never going to reach it's full potential.

March 2008 -- RateAFace was closed down in March 2008 due to above mentioned problems. However, within months of closing Mark Willis decided to bring RateAFace back - but this time re-branded, re-designed, re-developed and with the foundation of 4 years web experience. Will Peirce worked on aspects of the design and the marketing; Mark Willis designed and built the site's architechture, front-end interface and back-end software. Needless to say this version of RateAFace was given much more time and love than previous versions.

March 2009 -- RateAFace 3 was in the making from 1st September 2008. The beta of version 3 was launched to the public as an open beta in March 2009.

RateAFace is more than a rating site.

It's THE rating site.
